The Third Focus Group Meeting Of The Best For Energy Project Was Held With The Theme Of “Human Resources Development For Clean Energy.”

With the increase in the need for energy globally and in Turkey, the need for clean energy sources such as wind energy, solar energy, geothermal energy, and biomass energy obtained from natural sources continues to increase rapidly. Clean energy sectors are an essential source of employment in the market of developed and developing countries. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency estimates, 5.5 million new employments can be created in the next three years in the global renewable energy sector after Covid-19. The total employment in the industry may reach 30 million in 2030.
 
With the Focus Group Meetings organized within BEST For Energy Project, steps to increase the sector's competitiveness are evaluated. In this context, the third focus group meeting was held on May 5, 2021, with the theme of "Human Resources Development for Clean Energy." Companies operating in the clean energy sector, sectoral NGOs, vocational high schools, and universities attended the meeting.Participants have discussed the current human resources structure in clean energy sectors, the inter-sectoral mobility of the workforce, the competencies to be developed in human resources, and the green jobs of the future; They discussed wind, solar, geothermal, and biomass in 4 separate sessions.
 
At the meeting, the future human resources infrastructure and related projects were discussed. It was stated that it is essential to train the workforce correctly, considering that the students studying will form the next-generation workforce. Accordingly, the importance of developing vocational standards, bringing together educational institutions and the private sector, and opening clean energy departments in vocational and technical high schools was emphasized. In addition, it was evaluated that İzmir would be an essential step for our country and its nearby geography to become a production center in the clean energy and clean technology sector.
